Description
Tryptamine hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt preparation of Tryptamine, the indole structure providing the pharmacologically active substructure to the neurotransmitters Serotonin (sc-201146), Melatonin (sc-207848), and other indoles of the tryptamine family. Tryptamine is synthesized by decarboxylation of L-tryptophan and occurs endogenously at low concentrations in the mammalian brain. Tryptamine is described to produce vasoconstriction, potentially through action at the trace-amine-associated receptor TAAR-1.
